The key to keeping a cooler cold is to keep heat out. Quercus suber (cork oak trees) are covered in thick, rugged bark that provides natural protection from forest fires. The cork comprising this bark is proven resistant to temperatures up to 1,000 degrees—which is why it’s ideal for our coolers.
Cork comes from the bark of the cork oak tree, and is harvested by hand every 9 years. This process is completed without damaging the tree, and the trees can live over 300 years.
Just like the people who have grown and harvested it for generations, every piece of cork is 100% unique.
